The UFC former Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey could be making her long awaited return to the Octagon for the first time since her devastating loss at UFC 194 back in December 2015. UFC President Dana White was a guest on ESPN’s SportsCenter to discuss some updates in the company. White revealed that Rousey actually had undergone knee surgery yesterday. White said that it was ” nothing serious, just cleaning it out.”
Although most fans were looking to Rousey’s return possibly being at UFC 205 in New York on November 12, it looks as if that may not be an option. White said that he hopes to have Rousey back some time in December, but if not then hopefully the beginning of January at the New Years card. The one thing that is for certain is that Rousey will be fighting for the Title upon her return. “Whoever holds the belt will fight Ronda” White proclaimed.
Current Champion Meisha Tate is set to fight Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 in July, if she were to win that fight she could be in line for a third match up with her arch enemy Rousey. On the minds of many fans is a rematch between Rousey and the only woman to ever beat her, Holy Holm. Dana White said ” I’m not saying Holly Holm couldn’t be Champion by then, whoever is the champ will fight her.”
There is a chance that we could see Tate vs. Holm 2 before Rousey is set to return, possably in New York. Then the winner of that fight would face Ronda in January.
