The history of Jon Jones has been one that has gone downhill quickly. What was once a bright future of the youngest UFC champion ever, is now a cautionary tale of what can go wrong when you are not careful with your life choices. Today word was released that Jon Jones has failed with B sample test from the night before his UFC contest with Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.
Earlier this month it came to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that Jon Jones had failed his pre-fight test for UFC 214 on July 28th. The results of this test were not determined until after the contest and his win over Cormier. When the failed test was determined, Jones and his team out for the B sample to be tested.
Now that the B sample was found to contain the same banned substance as the first sample, it would appear the Jones will be facing a long suspension and a stripping of the title for the second time in his career.
Because this is the second USADA violation for Jones he will be facing a four-year suspension. The result of the UFC 214 fight with Cormier will most likely be changed to a No Contest. With that result change, the belt will return to Daniel Cormier.
There is currently no word from the UFC or Jones on this subject. Stay tuned to Mixed Martial Media for more information in the upcoming days.
