UFC 216 lost out on a women’s flyweight bout when Paige VanZant suffered a back injury. Her fight with Jessica Eye was scrapped from the event and is in the process of being rescheduled for a card later in the year. However the UFC has a replacement fight up their sleeves. According to MMAFighting.com LFA champion Andrea Lee will meet Kalindra Faria on October 7 in Las Vegas.
Lee (8-2) is currently on a four fight winning streak and has been the reigning LFA flyweight champion since February and has also competed in Invicta FC. With the latest creation of the UFC’s women’s flyweight division Lee could make a case for a title shot in the near future.
Her opponent Faria (18-5-1) will also be making her UFC debut. The Brazilian is currently the Titan FC bantamweight champion.
UFC 216 is headlined by the Lightweight Interim title match between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee.
